From Germany - Part 1

How's it goin'? I was so happy about your mail, that I decided to write you back immediately!

Long time has passed since we've heard from each other... a lot has changed... where should I start? Well sweetie, I'm still at school (you know I did 11th grade twice because I had to adjust to my new school!). Russian's goin' fine and I'm glad I took it as my A-levels course! I'll be taking my final examination (Abitur) [?] next July (1992). Then I'll study American language and Slavic studies in [?] at the university at least for one year. We'll see if I'll do the rest of my studies in the States, because... well, this was just the school stuff!

But yes, here's something new on the man scene: Since half a year I'm going out with an American soldier called Kevin. He's the best guy I've ever had, 1st lieutenant in the infantry, turning 25 years this October. I met at a pub (Irish Castle) and we were interested in each other at once. After we talked for hours on the phone and met a couple times, we got together. First I didn't know if twas the right thing, but I was the most beautiful girl for him and he tried everything to keep me. After about 2 months we really fell in love and GUESS WHAT: after about 3 months, when I spent the night at his house for the first time, we made love!!! Oh Sally, I'm tellin' you he's GREAT. I could just hug and kiss and make love to him all day long! - No, just kidding!

We get a long simply great. We're interested in the same arts, we talk religion, philosophy, capital punishment, sex, marriage, kids, we cook together, fool around like kids or go out to concerts - it's perfect.

I spend the weekends at his house as often as possible. But it's hard to be an officer's girl friend. He's so busy with his new job now (support -platoon-leader, in charge of 40 people!), has to work from 6:00 A.M to 8:00 PM a work, and when he gets home he has to work on plans and routes with his computer sometimes till midnight! Poor boy - and gets hardly anything good to eat!!! Now he's in the field for 1.5 months! How am I gonna gety through???

But he loves me seriously and wants to marry me. I'm very much in love as well, but it all came so suddenly and I'm only 19! So by the time he leaves Germany (which is gonna be in 2.5 years) I'd be 21 and that's when he dreams of taking me over to the states... I had to tell him, that I don't wanna talk about my future anymore because first of all I don't wanna make any commitment so early, and secondly I don't know if I'm able to leave my family and my country so far behind. Oh well, we'll see! But I'm lucky - as you can tell - Kevin's a true Darling!!!
